Erica Ditzler, DVM

Emergency Doctor, Intern Director

Dr. Ditzler is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to attending veterinary school, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medical Technology from Wilson College in her home state of Pennsylvania. After receiving her doctorate, Dr. Ditzler completed a rotating internship at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Akron, Ohio.

In 2016, she and her husband relocated to the Richmond area, where she has since worked in emergency veterinary medicine. Dr. Ditzler is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate patient care while fostering collaboration within the veterinary community. In addition to her clinical role, she serves as the hospital’s Intern Director, mentoring and guiding the next generation of veterinarians.

Beyond her love for Emergency and Critical Care medicine, Dr. Ditzler is passionate about serving her community. She works part-time as a veterinarian at the Goochland County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center and serves on the board of directors for Goochland Pet Lovers. Committed to helping “both ends of the leash,” she also helped found the Good Neighbor Outreach Program, which hosts monthly clinics providing basic veterinary care for individuals and families at or below the poverty level in the community.

In her free time, Dr. Ditzler enjoys exploring the outdoors by traveling with her husband, riding her horse, and hiking with her dogs. She also enjoys playing the piano and relaxing at home with her kitties, a good book, and her sulcata tortoise.
