Johana Cenera, DVM

Emergency Veterinarian

Dr. Cenera grew up in Pennsylvania. After her undergraduate degree, she completed a Master of Public Health degree with a specialization in Veterinary Public Health at The Ohio State University. Her studies included courses on zoonotic diseases (those that pass between animals and humans), foodborne illnesses, herd health programs, and bioterrorism. Dr. Cenera enjoyed Ohio so much she stayed to complete her DVM degree at Ohio State.

After graduation, she worked at a mixed animal practice for a number of years and has also provided relief coverage in urgent care and emergency medicine throughout Maryland before joining PVESC. In 2018, she also became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner. Dr. Cenera has strong interests in surgery, pain management, and feline medicine but overall enjoys the fast pace and problem solving involved in emergency medicine.

In her spare time, she enjoys running, traveling, and relaxing at the end of the day with a good book. She is currently owned by one cat, Olive.
