Dr. Melissa L. Miller is deeply committed to ongoing cancer research as well as continuing education for veterinarians and their teams. Her clinical interests are heavily weighted in the treatment of lymphoid and histiocytic diseases, precision medicine, alternative medicine studies, and immunomodulating therapy. She is also a certified pet grief support specialist and is currently pursuing additional training in veterinary aromatherapy and herbal medicine.
A native of central New Jersey, Dr. Miller attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where she was awarded her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in September 2008. She continued her training with a general internship at Veterinary Specialists of Rochester from 2008 to 2009 and a specialty oncology internship at MedVet Medical and Cancer Centers for Pets from 2009 to 2010. Following this specialty internship year, she remained at MedVet and completed an ACVIM approved residency training program in medical oncology in 2013.
From 2013 to 2016 Dr. Miller worked as a staff medical oncologist at MedVet, growing the oncology services in Columbus and Dayton, OH and Indianapolis, IN. She was an intricate part of developing and managing the MedVet canine lymphoma bone marrow transplant program and holds a high clinical interest in ongoing lymphoma studies with transplant medicine and immunotherapy.
From 2016 to mid 2022 Dr. Miller worked with Innovetive PetCare as a staff medical oncologist at Animal Emergency and Specialty Center of Chattanooga to elevate the level of care in the tristate region of Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia. She joined Partner Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center in July 2022 as the medical oncologist for the Richmond, VA location.
When she’s not fighting cancer, Dr. Miller enjoys spending time with family, cooking with her fiancée Nick and entertaining their energetic rat terrier, Lucky Liam. She is also an avid houseplant gardener and essential oil enthusiast.
