Michelle Silver, DVM, DACVIM – Oncology
At a young age, Dr. Michelle Silver knew she wanted to work with animals. While in vet school, her childhood dog was diagnosed with lung cancer. This immediately drew her into the specialty and sparked her passion for oncology.
After earning her DVM at Iowa State University, she went on to a rotating internship followed by a specialty oncology internship in Virginia. She spent the year after her specialty internship doing clinical trials in Washington, DC. Afterward, she completed a residency at New England Veterinary Oncology Group in Massachusetts.
Dr. Silver enjoys participating in clinical trials, and is currently enrolled in a course to obtain an advanced degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The most rewarding part of her career is having the opportunity to improve her patient’s quality of life and providing owners more time with their four-legged family members.
Dr. Silver and her husband, Jason, share their home in Maryland with several animals which include 3 dogs: Pipsqueak, a miniature Poodle mix, Grace, a Pit Bull mix and Lou a Golden Retriever Mix, 2 cats, Ginger and Luna, and a Red Eared Slider named Flash who just turned 26. When she is not working, Dr. Silver and her family enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, and pretty much anything outdoors.
