What does your day look like at Partner?

The Surgical Veterinary Assistant’s emphasis is on tasks related to team and patient care, plus pet family support. Additional daily tasks include patient handling, prepping  patients for surgery, and cleaning/restocking supplies. 

You will scrub into surgical procedures on an as-needed basis to directly assist the surgeon, maintaining strict sterile technique, 

and anticipate surgical needs and provide instruments, sutures, and materials efficiently during procedures. You’ll assist with proper instrument sterilization, surgical pack preparation, and operating room turnover.

You will work with unique and varied cases, and you have the resources to enable optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year veterinary experience in a specialty environment, experience in Oncology preferred
  • Knowledge and dedication to high standard and fear-free patient care practices
  • Strong communication skills to enable respectful and successful lines of communication among team members
  • Adaptability in various learning strategies and keen interest to continuing to develop as a technician and team member

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to quickly process, analyze, and react to unplanned and emergent medical situations without delay, so as to ensure the safety of team members and patients
  • Ability to stand for up to 12 hours with limited breaks
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance
