Pierre Charlebois, DVM, DACVECC

“Emergency and Critical Care is a fascinating facet of veterinary medicine as it requires  knowledge in all aspects of medicine. Being able to help pets in an emergency situation and seeing them progress from a life threatening condition to discharge is the most rewarding part of the job. Adjacent to treating the patient, working with owners and their families during these difficult times is equally crucial to ensure the best decisions are made for their animal. Keeping an open line of communication and providing realistic, up to date expectations is something that all clients deserve.”

Dr. Charlebois was born and raised in Quebec and moved to Prince Edward Island where he did his university undergrad and later, his veterinary school education. He then completed a one year rotating internship at the Ontario Veterinary College before moving to Virginia to work as an emergency veterinarian for a few years.

Following his interest, he then moved back to Guelph, Ontario to complete a residency in Emergency and Critical Care at the Ontario Veterinary College, and is now returning to Virginia as a board certified Criticalist to join the team at Partners Veterinary.

When not working in the ICU, he likes to spend time outdoors hiking, he dabbles in woodworking and he loves to maintain a coral reef aquarium.
