Richmond Weekly Update 2-13-2026

🚗 Parking Reminder (Important)

Team member parking is in:

  • The gravel lot in front of the hospital, or
  • The rear parking lot behind the hospital

The paved front lot is for client parking only.
We’ve been a little more flexible during the recent snow, but moving forward, we need to return to this standard. We’ve received feedback from clients who were unable to find parking and had to park in the gravel lot, which isn’t ideal for them.

Please help us prioritize client access by parking in the designated team areas. Thank you for helping keep this smooth for our clients.

📩 Peer Review Emails – Please Complete Promptly

If you receive an email with the subject line “Peer Review”, please complete it as soon as possible.

These peer reviews directly impact your teammates’ ability to complete their annual check-ins and wage reviews. Delays in completing peer reviews delay your teammates’ evaluations and progress.

Thank you for being responsive and supporting one another through this process.

✅ Paylocity Policy Acknowledgments – Action Needed

Please make sure you are regularly checking Paylocity for new policies and acknowledgments.

There are currently several team members who have outstanding policies that still need to be signed off on in Paylocity. As new policies are released, it is your responsibility to log in and acknowledge that you have read them. Please check your emails.

A few reminders:

  • Many important company updates and policies are delivered through Paylocity.
  • Some Paylocity notifications may go to your “Other” folder instead of your Focused inbox, so please be sure to check both.
  • If possible, adjust your settings so Paylocity emails go to your Focused inbox.

These acknowledgments are important for compliance and communication. Please make sure you are staying up to date so nothing important is missed.

📦 Inventory Basics Guide – Please Review

Attached to this email is an Inventory Basics Guide from Taylor Sherry. Please take a few minutes to review this document.

This guide includes:

  • How and when to contact Taylor
  • When to use the inventory request list
  • What should be handled by inventory vs. what should not
  • Helpful reminders to keep supplies flowing smoothly

This guide will now be part of every new hire’s onboarding, so please also make sure any new team members you are working with receive this and know where to find it.

This will help reduce confusion, delays, and last-minute supply issues — thank you for taking the time to review it.

📚 Foundational Training – March

We will be setting up another Foundational Training in March.
Anyone who has not yet attended Foundational Training will be required to attend this upcoming session.
As soon as dates are finalized, I’ll send that information out so you can plan accordingly.

📝 Task List – Please Use During Downtime (Big Reminder)

The Task List is now posted on the floor and is organized by:

  • Shift (Day / Swing / Night)
  • Role (LVT / VA)

Please make sure:

  • Tasks are being completed regularly
  • The forms are being filled out

If you can’t find a form, extra copies are in the outpatient trough outside the doctor’s office.

This is a great tool to help everyone know what needs to be done and to make downtime productive and fair across shifts and roles. And will be updated as need cleaning or task needs are recommended. Please feel free to make suggestions as to what else can be added.

🐱 Cat Ward Update – Future Pseudo Isolation Space

Everything has been moved out of the cat ward as we work toward turning it into a pseudo isolation area, ideally for respiratory cases.

This space is not fully set up yet (we are still working on adding a filter), so please respect this area for now and do not begin using it as respiratory isolation yet.
Please touch base with leadership if you have questions about this space.

🐾 Employee Pets & Pet Ward Policy – Reminder

We are fortunate to be able to offer team members the privilege of bringing personal pets to work when needed. This is something not every hospital is able to offer, and we want to continue to allow it.

That said, all employee pets brought to work must be housed in the Pet Ward.
This is for everyone’s safety — your pet’s safety, your coworkers’ safety, and our patients’ safety.

Exceptions:
If your pet has a medical condition that prevents them from being safely housed in the Pet Ward, this must be:

  • Documented by a full-time DVM or specialist
  • Approved by leadership.

For example (shared with permission):
Laszlo is allowed to be housed outside of the Pet Ward due to a documented neurological seizure condition that has been approved by a full-time DVM.

If there is no documented medical reason for your pet to be outside of the Pet Ward and you choose to bring them, then your pet must be housed in the Pet Ward.

Thank you for helping us keep this safe and sustainable for the whole team.

💗 Hearts of the Hospital – More Coming!

I’ve already seen well over 100 hearts go up around the hospital, and more hearts are on the way (arriving Sunday!).
It means a lot to your teammates to see their efforts recognized in this way. Please keep them coming!

💙 Partner Pulse Check-Ins – Getting Started

Heather and I have scheduled our first Partner Pulse check-ins, with more to come.
These will continue throughout the month, starting the last week of February and continuing on. Our goal is to touch base with everyone by the end of August.

These check-ins are meant to:

  • Identify what’s going well in your role
  • Identify areas that may be more challenging
  • Provide space to share feedback and how you’re feeling

More details will be shared as schedules roll out.

🙌 Shout-Out – Community Outreach

Huge thank-you to **Christy and Jessica Mees for joining me at **Blue Ridge Community College this week to talk with prospective applicants. Thank you for taking the time to promote Partner, connect with students, and support future LVTs entering the field. Your time and energy made a big impact.

🚫 Urinary Catheter Safety Reminder

Please remember:

  • All clamps must be removed from urinary catheter lines
  • There should be no clamps on urinary catheter lines
  • Urinary catheters should be capped using a syringe and needle, not a clamp

This is an important safety reminder to prevent complications.

💊 Medication Safety – Five Rights + Double Check Reminder

Please remember and consistently follow the Five Rights of Medication Administration:

  • Right patient
  • Right drug
  • Right dose
  • Right route
  • Right time

Along with the Five Rights, our Medication Double-Check SOP is still required and must be followed every time. This is in place to protect our patients, our licenses, and each other. Thank you for taking the extra moment to slow down and double-check — it truly matters.

Thank you all for your continued hard work, compassion, and teamwork. What you do every day matters — and it shows.
