Yes! This event is 100% free!
Do I have to stick to one track?
No! You can go to any of the lectures you wish to attend.
How do I get my certificate?
You must complete the post-event survey to obtain your certificate. Your certificate will be emailed to you within 2 weeks of the event.
Where can I park?
The Marriot Short Pump offers ample complimentary parking for all guests.
What’s being served for breakfast and lunch?
We will have a continental breakfast and a Mediterranean themed buffet lunch will many vegetarian options.
Will there be a vendor/sponsor exhibit area?

MEET THE SPEAKERS

Originally from Delaware, Dr. Megan Wolfe is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she completed a one-year small animal rotating internship at The Ohio State University, followed by a residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery at Colorado State University. During her residency she conducted research on minimally invasive neurosurgery and markers of inflammation in cerebrospinal fluid.

Emma Kate Evans received her DVM at Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a small animal rotating internship in Richmond, Virginia, followed by an Emergency and Critical Care Residency in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and became board-certified in Emergency and Critical Care in October of 2018.

Dr. Melissa L. Miller is a medical oncologist with clinical interests in lymphoid and histiocytic diseases, precision medicine, and immunomodulating therapy. She is also a certified pet grief support specialist pursuing additional training in veterinary aromatherapy and herbal medicine.

Dr. Charlebois was born and raised in Quebec and moved to Prince Edward Island where he did his university undergrad and later, his veterinary school education. He then completed a one year rotating internship at the Ontario Veterinary College before moving to Virginia to work as an emergency veterinarian for a few years.
Following his interest, he then moved back to Guelph, Ontario to complete a residency in Emergency and Critical Care at the Ontario Veterinary College, and is now returning to Virginia as a board certified Criticalist to join the team at Partner Veterinary.

Christine Weaver, BS, LVT, VTS (Neurology) spearheads the Knowledge and Learning Department. She is incredibly passionate about the growth of all members of the clinical veterinary team, with the aim of developing self-efficacy and meaning in the veterinary professional’s career through mentorship and coaching, in addition to the support for clinical development.

Heather Carter, MPS, LVT, VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia) is the Vice President of People & Culture at Partner Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center. Heather has over 20 years of experience in the veterinary field in clinical and leadership. She is a veterinary technician specialist in anesthesia and analgesia and has earned a master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology from George Mason University.
Taryn Powell, LVT, RVT, CPEP

Taryn Powell is a results-driven Licensed Veterinary Technician with 10 years of experience in Veterinary Medicine, focusing on Internal Medicine, ECC, and Cardiology. She strives to create positive client interactions, educate clients on complex disease processes, and provide exceptional care to pets in need. Her passion lies in building trust with clients and patients, facilitating thoughtful end-of-life care discussions, and mentoring veterinary technician students. Taryn is currently working towards a Veterinary Technician Specialty in Cardiology and a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology.
Vanessa Leiser, LVT, VTS (IM-Neurology)

Vanessa Leiser, LVT, VTS (IM-Neurology), is a board-certified Veterinary Technician Specialist in Neurology at Partner Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center in Richmond, Virginia. With over seven years of specialty experience, she provides advanced nursing care for neurologic patients, serves on the Academy of Internal Medicine for Veterinary Technicians’ Neurology Credentialing Committee, and is a frequent speaker at veterinary conferences on topics including seizure management and vestibular disease.

Now 15+ years into a career in veterinary medicine, she’s the Vice-President of Marketing for Partner — which, in startup life, means she does a little bit of everything. Strategy, brand, campaigns, digital, comms — she’s equal parts big-picture thinker and person who will absolutely roll up her sleeves.
